Nåde is a small batch textile studio located in Chattanooga, Tennessee - where we create small batch goods for the home as well as pass along the art of natural dyeing to others through teaching. We are committed to sustainable practices & protecting our Mother Earth. All good things meant to be cherished take time and naturally dyed textiles are certainly an ode to the art of slow craft. We aim to create beautifully crafted textiles using food products & food waste as well as foraged plants from the Mountains of Tennessee. Our hope is that the hues rendered from these plants & food waste will challenge you to experience food and nature in a new way.
FEED WEAVE is our zero waste commitment! Custom orders for weavings or home goods using fibers dyed using food waste fall under this initiative. 10% off our sales from feed weave go to community kitchens & non-profits that promote sustainable farming.
THE OWNER & DESIGNER:
Maggie Pate the designer + purveyor of Nåde. She began her career in fashion modeling internationally then retired to work for a label in New York City. Her work in textiles is a cross-section that explores the synthesis of textures, repetition + geometry. It forms a poetic visual language that ignites the potential of figurative rhythm - a visual synestheia; where shapes, colors + mood transform into a kaleidoscopic canvas.
The last few years, her focus has shifted to cultivating a studio that is 100% sustainable and eco-friendly through capturing color with predominantly food waste collected from local restaurants and farms.
