Teaching with Glasswing

For months, I was scheming with Alisa from Glasswing to create a weekend about Capturing Color with Food Waste. We finally set the dates for early October up in Seattle, Washington. I actually ended up teach 3 classes. One Natural Dye Class and Two Block Printing Bandana Classes.

The Capturing Color Class was so dynamic. Two mother/daughter couples came and then we were joined with designers and naturalists and those just curios in textile art. We dyed with avocado pits, onion skins, and red cabbage. All collected from local Seattle restaurants!

The Block Printing Class was a really hands on. The students were given free range to design and print their own naturally dyed bandana using all my antique wood carved blocks. I collected most of these blocks while in India.

I loved meeting all the students - conversation with fiber fanatics is always so invigorating. I’m hoping to return for more classes!
